She started working with folks in recovery from substance use disorders and going into correctional facilities and sharing about resources and using self disclosure to elicit hope. She then worked with at risk youth at an emergency youth shelter and then went on to teach skills to youth and families. She graduated from Portland State University with her Bachelors of social work in 2021, Masters of social work in 2022, Graduate certificate of gerontology in 2022, and CSWA in 2022. Her original focus was on medical social work with a focus on palliative care/death and dying. Amanda started as a DBT therapist in 2022 and became enamored with the change focus therapy and now cannot imagine doing anything else. Amanda is passionate about servicing folks who have survived trauma, folks with personality disorders, people with substance use disorders and people experiencing hopelessness/life threatening behaviors.

Amanda’s interests include gardening, going to the river, native plant identification, bird watching, spending time with family, planning women’s circle events and laying in her hammock. Amanda has interests in all kinds of art mediums: sewing, leather work, painting, sculpting, singing, writing poetry, aerial silks, cooking, wood burning and dread lock maintenance. She enjoys camping, fishing, hiking, back-packing and playing disc golf with her partner and 3 children.
