Diane started her career in Social Work later in life, after raising four children and going through a divorce. Diane returned to school and received her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Cincinnati in 2014 – at the age of 49 – you are NOT too old to start something new! Diane trained in DBT in 2017 and led both adolescent and adult groups with a DBT practice in Cincinnati, Ohio. A trip to visit her oldest son and a bikepacking tour along the Oregon and Northern California coast in 2018 gave Diane a glimpse of the natural beauty and outdoorsy lifestyle that Oregon offers and led her to make the move to Oregon in 2020. When Diane became a grandparent in 2021, the desire to be closer to the family moved her from Corvallis to Portland. Eventually Diane found her way back to a fully adherent DBT practice and is excited to be here at PDBTI and hopes to stay for a long while! Practicing what she teaches is important to Diane and she rarely suggests a client try something that she has not tried herself. Diane practices meditation, enjoys yoga, daily walks with her companion dog, and hiking and biking as much as possible!
