Getting the best outcomes possible from DBT requires a well-trained DBT therapist providing services in a highly structured and comprehensive DBT treatment environment (see Dimeff & Koerner, 2007). Without both, clients may not improve at the same rate or to the same extent as those who actually receive DBT. The consequences of doing DBT-lite (vs. all the way) can be devastating for severe and complex clients. What are the structural components of DBT that you should look for when evaluating the fidelity of DBT? Check out the Comprehensive DBT Program Structure Checklist created by DBT expert & PDBTI Institute Director, Dr. Linda Dimeff.
